Lang’s daughter Bai Lang went back home from abroad during Christmas, also the holiday of New Year in 2010, but Lang never stopped for a rest during the time, since Evergrande Women’s Volleyball Team was to encounter Fujian who pressed it into the final match in the first round. Yesterday “Lang’s Team” competed again with Fujian at home. Being well prepared, it beat thoroughly the rival at 3:0, amounting to eight victories in this season.
Last round in Fujian, “Lang’s Team” had a bitter experience of victory after five hard sets when Chen Zhonghe, the vice director of Fujian Sports Bureau, supervised his team. Lang and her members can’t be relaxed through such an experience, “We’ve got no idea of holiday and we’re busy in training during the New Year.” Lang said. This time at home, “Lang’s Team” purposefully studied the videos of Fujian’s competitions before the game and eventually decided that service be the breakthrough of beating its rival. “Fujian enjoys tacit cooperation, whose fast break and diverse tactics may cause trouble for us. So we’re much prepared for our service.” Lang said.
The key to success from bitter victory after five sets one month ago to three straight sets is the enhancement of running within the team and the full rise of the attackers’ performance. Lang described after the match, “It’s already one month since we competed as guest with Fujian for the first time. We become acquainted with cooperation by the whole team, in particular that of defense and counterattack. In general, we had a smooth process”.
Throughout the match, not only the cooperation between attacker and setter became more tacit, but also the duty of each member over the court was more definite. The chief spiker Yang Hao returned to good performance, scoring 13 points throughout the match, and was honored “Score Leader”. The 36 –year-old veteran-Yin Yin, who prepared to retire after this season, troubled the rivals with her experienced combination of smashes and drop shots. The two chief spikers jointly contributed 19 scores by spike only.
“Lang’s Team” has been an outstanding figure with no failure in this season by the end of this round, 7 points ahead of Yunnan who ranks second despite one more round in the League tables. It steps further to its target of Series A when there are only four more rounds left. Lang stated clearly in an interview that if it succeeded in rushing into Series A, she hoped she can renew her duty. “Certainly I’ll stay with the team, I would not like it to be a short term as a coach. I’ll renew my duty as long as it permits.”
