In the afternoon of yesterday, Xu Jiayin, chairman of the board of directors of the Group, and Xia Haijun, president of the Group, convened an emergency meeting attended by the trade union, the department for protection of rights and interests of migrant workers, Guangdong branch and other departments of the Group and over 40 cooperative construction units of Guangdong projects and presented a series of attractive entertainment measures to induce migrant workers to stay in Guangzhou to celebrate the lunar New Year.
Recently, serious natural disasters such as bad ice, snow and sleet happened in Hunan, Hubei, Henan, Anhui, Jiangsu and the north of Guangdong Province, resulting in severe obstruction of northward transportation line and causing a lot of passengers desiring to return to their native places dominated by migrant workers to be held up in each station of Guangzhou. On January 28, Guangzhou Municipal Federation of Trade Unions issued an Emergency Circular on Work Related to Arrangements for Migrant Workers to Celebrate the Lunar New Year in Guangzhou, requiring all relevant departments to provide practical guarantee for vacation life of migrant workers who celebrated the lunar New Year in Guangzhou.
To respond to the call of the municipal federation of trade unions, Chairman Xu Jiayin who just reached China immediately held an emergency meeting attended by the trade union, the department for protection of rights and interests of migrant workers and other departments of the Group as well as each cooperative construction unit on January 29 to commonly deploy the plan for living guarantee of migrant workers of Guangdong Evergrande projects who celebrated the lunar New Year in Guangzhou. At first, Xia Haijun, president of the Group, claimed at the meeting that relevant units of Evergrande should immediately assist each construction unit to make a census of the number of workers of Guangdong Evergrande projects who were held up in the railway station and announced a few guarantee plans of Evergrande to entertain migrant workers who stayed in Guangzhou as follows.
First, each migrant worker who was held up on the construction site for his/her failure to return to his/her native place was provided with 500 yuan as festival arrangement expenses;
Second, to enable migrant workers staying in Guangzhou to pass a full Spring Festival, Evergrande joined hands with each construction unit to arrange rich Spring Festival get-together activities for them and the engineering department of each construction unit organized a “hogmanay dinner” at the cost of the Group on the site on the lunar New Year’s Eve;
Third, all the held up migrant workers were organized to launch a lunar New Year get-together on the first day of the first lunar month;
Fourth, each construction unit organized all the held up migrant workers to visit the garden at the cost of the Group on the second day of the first lunar month;
Fifth, the Group entrusted Guangdong travel agency with one-day tour in Guangzhou for all its migrant workers at the cost of the Group;
Sixth, the Group provided each migrant worker with an entrance ticket of any Guangdong scenic spot from the fourth day of the first lunar month to the sixth day of the first lunar month.
President Xia said their material and cultural life should be well and fully arranged so that they could enjoy a happy and auspicious Spring Festival.
Chairman Xu Jiayin said at the meeting: the migrant workers were unable to return to their native places to celebrate the lunar New Year because of natural disasters. However, “Evergrande is the home of migrant workers”, so he called upon numerous migrant workers to celebrate the lunar New Year in Guangzhou because the trade union and the department for protection of rights and interests of migrant workers in Evergrande would organize various activities such as an enjoyable hogmanay dinner so that they could enjoy the Spring Festival at ease and happily and also feel extremely warm in Guangzhou. He emphasized at the same time that Evergrande should care for held up migrant workers and be grateful for them because they worked for Evergrande, though they were part of cooperative construction units.    Evergrande felt anxious that migrant workers couldn’t return to their native places for natural disasters and hoped to enable held up migrant workers to pass a “reunion New Year” through its practical action. Chairman Xu Jiayin especially emphasized each department of Evergrande should immediately assist the construction units to take migrant workers back at night, further care for the life of held up migrant workers and practically guarantee the life of held up migrant workers by recovering the dinning halls of the construction sites and the dormitories of the employees.
The Group always cares for and ensures the life of migrant workers. On the signing ceremony by and between Evergrande and 72 strategic cooperative partners on January 25, Chairman Xu Jiayin expressed his gratitude to nearly 300 construction units on behalf of 150,000 migrant workers on the construction sites of Evergrande for their payment of salary in full to migrant workers which made migrant workers celebrate the lunar New Year gladly; on January 28, Chairman Xu specially arranged for President Xia to organize a few departments of the Group to send over 2000 military cotton-padded overcoats to migrant workers who were expecting the trains anxiously via the Department of Civil Affairs and the command office for the Spring Festival transport in the light of the actual demand of held up migrant workers. The industry analyzed that the action of Evergrande further deepened the loving care of Evergrande for migrant workers.
