The Evergrande Real Estate 49th World Table Tennis Championships was opened in the gymnasium of Guangzhou Tianhe Sports Center at 20:00 pm on February 23. At 5 o'clock in the afternoon, Liu Peng, head of State Sport General Administration, Sharara, chairman of International Table Tennis Federation, Zhang Guangning, mayor of Guangzhou City, Xia Haijun, president of the Group, and so on attended the welcome wine party prior to the opening ceremony.
The Evergrande Real Estate 49th World Table Tennis Championships is one of the most important games of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and the largest international game undertaken by Guangzhou before Guangzhou 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games. This game will be held in Guangzhou Gymnasium between February 23 and March 2.
In the welcome wine party of the opening ceremony, Xia HaiJun , president of the Group, said the "healthy, striving and upward" sports spirits of the World Table Tennis Championships runs in a single line with the spirit of the Chinese nation on diligence and bravery, firmness and indomitability, striving to make progress and pursuing Great Harmony and is identical with the corporate spirit of Evergrande Real Estate Group on "pioneering an enterprise with painstaking efforts, presenting with all respect unselfishly, striving hard as well as pioneering and keeping forging ahead" at the same time. That our Group exclusively names the 49th World Table Tennis Championships this time is cheer for Guangzhou, national ball game and China. It is reported the World Table Tennis Championships includes matches of men's team and women's team which are paid close attention to by all countries (regions) and applied to by top 16 players of men’s and women’s world table tennis doubles and singles with Chinese table tennis team consisting of players ready to participate in Beijing Olympic Games. At present, after totally closed training of Chinese men's team and women's team for months, the Chinese team all reached Guangzhou last week.
