Lang’s Evergrande defeated last night in Guangzhou the visiting American training team led by the Olympic gold plate coach Maccuteon at 3:0, the scores of the three games were 25:20, 25:14, and 25:19. Thus, historically, the first contest between a Chinese club team and American national team perfectly concluded by now.
So Lang has won the first two matches with her successor Maccuteon.
The American coach Maccuteon expressed after the match: “Jenny (Lang)’s players are experienced and with superior skills. It is a matter of course for Evergrande to win. We have benefited a lot from the journey to Guangzhou and we are expecting another opportunity and we’re sure to play better. ” Maccuteon also said emotionally that “From the match our young players have seen the international level and known their big difference.”
Despite a friendship match, Lang still strove for each point that day. So she primarily arranged the six leading players like Feng Kun, Zhou Suhong, Yang Hao, Yin Meng, Yin Yin and Harmotto for performance throughout the match. Only in the third game when Evergrande was ahead at 23:18, Yang Jie substituted Yin Yin, a player who had been a mother, for strengthening the back defense.
More than 8,000 viewers witnessed this historic match and considerable souvenirs were issued to the fans in reward.
Lang Declined with Thanks to Be the National Coach, Hoping the Golden Generation Stay
“Evergrande” China-USA dual meet of women’s volleyball was put on in Guangzhou last night and the more skillful EWVT swept its rival with stable performance. After the match Lang praised the veterans’ wonderful performance and politely rejected the idea to invite her back to the national team.
The young American team was at a loss before EWVT which consists mainly of the “Golden Generation” while EWVT with Zhou Suhong, Feng Kun, and Yang Hao as the key players performed with such an ease that Lang didn’t even adjust the lineup in the court. For this, Lang said: “The audience comes to watch the games of Feng, Yang, and Zhou, and it will be meaningless without them.”
It may be the last match for some veterans last night, but Lang refused to disclose the adjustments of the line-up neat year. “Personally I hope that these good players can come back, but the final result will be from their own decision.”
The great success in Evergrande makes one wonder that whether Lang can return to the national team, leading the dormant Chinese team to reemerge. Lang politely rejected the idea, thinking that this position should be left to more, better and younger coaches.
