In the morning of April 8, the Signing Ceremony for Strategic Cooperation with Evergrande and Tsinghua University was held in Great Hall of the People in Beijing, and the following leaders attended it, including: Chen Jining, Member of National People’s Congress Standing Committee and President of Tsinghua University, Professor Qiu Chengtong, a famous mathematician and Director of Center for Science of Mathematics of Tsinghua University, Kang Kejun and Cheng Jianping, Vice Presidents of Tsinghua University, Hao Jiming, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, and other 12 leaders of Tsinghua University including Deans and Secretaries of Party Committees of five relevant schools such as School of Architecture; HuiKaYan, Member of Standing Committee of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Board Chairman of Evergrande Real Estate Group (hereinafter referred to Evergrande), Xia Haijun, Vice Board Chairman and President of Evergrande, Li Gang, Vice Board Chairman and Deputy Secretary of Party Committee of Evergrande, and all Vice Presidents; famous professors from three famous universities around the world including Professor Richard M. Schoen from Stanford University, Academician of U.S. National Academy of Science and American Academy of Arts and Science, J. (Joachim) Hyam Rubinstein from the University of Melbourne, Academician of Australian Academy of Science and Chairman of Australian Academic Committee of Mathematics, and Philip Candelas from University of Oxford, Academician of Royal Society and Director of Research Group of Mathematics and Physics of Oxford; famous scholars from world-leading scientific research institutions, student representatives of Tsinghua University, and more than 200 journalists. This was the first ceremony in recent years that included leaders at such high level and in such large number.

This ceremony was presided over by Professor Cheng Jianping, Vice President of Tsinghua Univeristy, and President Chen Jining and Chairman HuiKaYan made speeches respectively. Later, Vice President Kang Kejun and President Xia Haijun signed the strategic cooperation agreement on behalf of Tsinghua University and Evergrande respectively, and leaders of Tsinghua University and its schools, senior management of Evergrande, and academicians and guests present jointly witnessed it.

Hui Ka Yan, Member of Standing Committee of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Board Chairman of Evergrande and Chen Jining, Member of National People’s Congress Standing Committee and President of Tsinghua University jointly unveil the nameplate of “Tsinghua-Evergrande Research Institute”

According to the agreement, Tsinghua University and Evergrande will establish the long-term strategic cooperation relationship in terms of strategic technical cooperation, talent cultivation, and industrial operation, and will give full play to their respective advantages to build up a long-term mechanism for cooperation and mutual benefits, and coordination and innovation with both parties. In the respect of strategic technology, Tsinghua University and Evergrande will carry out specific studies on corporate strategic planning and operation management, construction engineering, planning and design, construction, and materials based the “Tsinghua-Evergrande Research Institute” as a platform; for talent cultivation, both parties will cooperate to set up postgraduate courses for master of engineering, and courses for MBA and MPA, and Evergrande will prepare the largest internship platform for Tsinghua University; and in terms of industrial operation, both parties will carry out joint development on elementary education and industrial cooperation. 

As a world-leading university, Tsinghua University always establishes strategic cooperation with world-class enterprises and global giants within specific industries, and Evergrande is the first enterprise that reaches such strategic cooperation with Tsinghua University in such a comprehensive, deep, and lasting way. The expert analyzes that, for the major of industrial and civil engineering of Tsinghua University ranks the first within China and 17th around the world, it will greatly enhance Evergrande’s professional level in fields of ecology, energy saving, and environmental protection, improve Evergrande’s competitiveness, help Evergrande further create livable life for the public, and ensure that Evergrande will become the first within China.
