News  While there’s the saying that “A pupil outdoes his master”, but the competition yesterday fully proved that “an old ox makes a straight furrow”, when Evergrande led by Lang Ping challenged Yunnan led by He Qi, Lang’s former pupil. Evergrande won in three straight games, realizing three successive victories of Group B of National Women’s Volleyball, with no loss so far.

In 1995 Lang became the coach of Chinese National Team, selecting He Qi as a leading setter. Six years later, He Qi retired and went to join an Italian club through the “Iron Hammer’s” (Lang’s nickname) contacts. Therefore, He Qi’s volleyball career has been closely related with Lang. However, it is evident that He has not mastered fully her teacher’s knowledge, with less powerful skills of coaching.

In the competition yesterday, there’s no vacancy in the Yuxi Stadium with a capacity of 3000 people. The “Lang Whirlwind” blew increasingly fierce. Evergrande’s starting lineup included the “Golden Generation”-Yang Hao and Wang Li the chief spikers, Yin Meng and Hamotto the second spikers, Zhou Suhong the second setter, Feng Kun the setter and Davis the libro. The young Yunnan players played energetically but with limited strength while Hamotto, Yin Meng and Wang Li’s blocks cast Yunnan’s attacks at good discount, which were added with Yang Hao and Zhou Suhong’s successful attacks frequently. The Lang’s Army soon controlled the match, winning three straight games at 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-14) with no suspense.

After match Lang praised her former pupil He Qi who’s now Yunnan’s coach, “From this competition I think that He Qi is good for coach and she’s been a good coach already. To tell the truth, I’m really proud of He!” As to He’s advantage, Lang said that she was herself a former player and a female, which equips her with incomparable advantages over men in communication with the players. While He is respectful with her teacher, “They’re so great even with a short time of running, which illustrates that Lang has a good way of teaching with an evident efficiency in such a short period of time. I should learn from Lang in all aspects.”
