On November 29, 2011, the “Meeting of Guangdong Evergrande Women Volleyball Players for the 2011-2012 Competition Season” was held grandly in Guangzhou Evergrande Hotel. Present at the meeting were Liu Yongzhuo, Vice President of Evergrande Group and Chairman of Guangdong Evergrande Women Volleyball Club, Lang Ping, Chief Coach of Guangdong Evergrande Women Volleyball Club, and all the players of Guangdong Evergrande Women Volleyball Club. Evergrande Women Volleyball Club, gathering the world-top expatriate players and the domestic first-class players, caught the attention of dozens of media throughout the country. At the meeting, the leaders and the coaches of the Club interacted and exchanged with the journalists on such issues as the operating mode of the Club, the team construction and the target for the new competition season.

As the first completely professionalized volleyball club in China, Guangdong Evergrande Women Volleyball Club, since its establishment in 2009, has caused wide concerns among all the social circles, and its initiative operating mode of “sole responsibility for its own profits or losses, independent existence and self-development” has achieved unprecedented success. In the first year after its establishment, Guangdong Evergrande Women Volleyball Club succeeded in being promoted to Class-A League with the 12-game winning streak and the identity of the champion of Class-B League, and in the second year, it won the champion of the regular season and the runner-up of the final of Class-A League.

In order to improve the overall competition level of the team and the league, and to present more splendid competition for the fans, Evergrande introduces high-level expatriate players every year. In this competition season, Guangdong Evergrande Women Volleyball Club has introduced three expatriate players, i.e. Costa Grand, the chief spiker of Italian National Team and the MVP of the current women volleyball world cup, Skovolonska, a famous player from Poland, and Nichole Fawcett, a player with true power from the U.S.A.. These three expatriate players officially appeared along with the team, causing great concerns among the media.
