On July 15, “China Charity Award” – the highest government award in the China charitable field sponsored by the State Ministry of Civil Affairs was announced in Beijing, and one hundred loving public figures, institutions and charity projects including Professor Hui Ka Yan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Evergrande Group, won this special honor. On that morning, Hui Liangyu, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC and Vice-premier of the State Council, Hua Jianmin, Vice-chairman of the NPC, Zhang Meiying, Vice-chairman of the C.P.P.C.C and other national leaders cordially met the award-winning representatives at the Great Hall of the People, and issued the trophies and certificates to the award-winning representatives at the commendation congress. Present at the activity were Ding Xuedong, Vice Secretary General of the State Council, Li Liguo, Minister of the Ministry of Civil Affairs and the relevant leaders of ministries and commissions such as the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, the United Front Work Department, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Education.

As a nationwide well-known entrepreneur and charitarian, Chairman Hui Ka Yan won the honor of “the Most Loving Charity Donation Individual of China Charity Award” for the fourth time this year, and became one of the loving public figures with the most award-winnings since the issuance of such award.

It is learned that “China Charity Award”, established in 2006, is aimed at commending the public welfare charitable spirits such as disaster relief, assisting the elderly, assisting the disabled, rescuing the orphan, poverty alleviation, assisting the impoverished students, medical relief and supporting cultural art and environmental protection, which has been successfully held for the sixth time. In order to carry forward the charitable spirits, establish the charitable examples and arouse the charitable enthusiasm of the whole society, the sponsor selected 100 award-winning individuals, enterprises and charitable projects from nearly one thousand qualified candidates through the nomination of the “China Charity Award” Appraisal Office of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, and through the real name voting of the public, the appraisal of all quarters of society and the final review of the Selection Committee.
