On Sep 17, “Evergrande World (China) Snooker Championship 2016” News Conference was held in Evergrande Venezia Hotel in Qidong, Jiangsu, province. Selby, the world’s No.1 snooker player, and Ding Junhui, China’s leading snooker player took part in this news conference as the tournament’s campaign ambassadors, and the competition will be held in Guangzhou Stadium on November 1 to 5.

Evergrande World (China) Snooker Championship in 2016 is an A-level competition approved by the State General Administration of Sport as well as the World Professional Snooker Championship, it is exclusively operated by the Evergrande Group and hosted by the World Snooker Association and the Chinese Billiards & Snooker Association. China has held open tournament, Masters tour, classic events and world cup snooker competitions, but without the access of any international A-level championship before this. Therefore, “Evergrande World (China)Snooker Championship 2016” will fill in the gap in Chinese international A-level snooker championship.

At present, Evergrande World (China)Snooker Championship 2016 is an international top-level competition for Snookers with highest reward, highest-level player and widest influence in China. 650,000 pound is the highest reward in China’s snooker competition, second only to the world snooker championship. Chinese snooker championship will be held in the form of invitational tournament at first in Guangzhou on Nov 1 to 5 . However, the world top 16 players will be entitled to take part in the competition directly, including world renowned player such as Selby, Ding Junhui, Fu Jiajun, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Judd Trump, etc. Through three successive competitions from 2017 to 2020, it will become a world professional snooker points ranking competition. Finally, 64 players will be selected to take part in the championship.

At the news conference, Jwhileon Ferguson, president of World Snooker Association, pointed out that under the help of Chinese Billiards&Snooker Association and Evergrande Group, Evergrande World (China)Snooker Championship in 2016 will be held successfully. Meanwhile, he gave gratitude to Evergrande Group as one of world top 500 enterprises for taking part in this project of snooker, which is as significance of promoting great development of this sport in China.

Wang Yanmei-deputy director of management center of State General Administration of Sport and vice president of Chinese Billiards&Snooker Association, also had great prospect in Evergrande World (China)Snooker Championship in 2016. “as Evergrande World (China)Snooker Championship is held in Guangzhou”, she said:” the events of world professional snooker championship in China will be up to six. Centered in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, a proper competition layout is formed. Because Evergrande Group boasts extraordinary strength and ability, I believe that World (China)Snooker Championship will significantly promote the development of China’s billiard sport.”

At the news conference, Ding Junhui and Selby-world well-known snooker stars are officially appointed as ambassadors of Evergrande World (China)Snooker Championship in 2006 At the same time, the preliminary of Chinese Championship started, covering 32 provinces and cities around the country, with high reward of 300, 000 yuan. It was predicted that more than 1,000 clubs and over 3,000 amateur players will take part in this preliminary.
