On December 19, the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Evergrande Group and Guizhou Provincial Government held a signing ceremony of Evergrande Group’s Pairing support to Dafang County’s targeted poverty Alleviation in Dafang County, Bijie City. Evergrande will invest RMB 3 billion of poverty alleviation funds in three years, through a comprehensive package of measures to offer Pairing support to Dafang County, to achieve the overall poverty alleviation goal of the county by the end of 2018.

Xiang Zongxi, deputy director of the CPPCC Economic Committee, Hui Ka Yan, member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC, Chairman of the Board of Evergrande Group, Hu Jiyuan, deputy director of the office of the CPPCC Economic Committee; Liu Yuankun, vice governor of Guizhou Province, Chen Zhigang, secretary of Bijie Municipal Party Committee, Chen Changxu, mayor of Bijie City and other leaders attended the signing ceremony. Hui Ka Yan and Gu Zhangquan, head of Dafang County signed an agreement on behalf of both parties.

According to the agreement, Evergrande will take a comprehensive package of measures in poverty alleviation including industry, relocation, employment, education, living security for special disadvantaged groups to help Dafang County to achieve the target of the overall stable poverty alleviation of the county’s 180,000 people in three years.

On the day before the signing, Xiang Zongxi, Hui Ka Yan, Liu Yuankun and their delegation visited poor rural households in various villages of Dafang County, and inspected the sites for relocation and aided school projects. During the inspection and signing period, Evergrande also organized 60 truck convoys to deliver edible oil and other gifts to 1.1 million people of 280,000 households of the county.

During the discussion meeting on targeted poverty alleviation on the signing day, Xiang Zongxi revealed, "On behalf of CPPCC, I attend the inspection and signing activities of Evergrande’s pairing help to Dafang County of Bijie, I am deeply moved and educated as you these days. Bijie is the test area of national poverty alleviation and the CPPCC attaches great importance to the county’s poverty alleviation. Over the years, more than 20 chairmen and vice chairmen of the CPPCC have visited Bijie for over 30 times. "

He pointed out that the scale, intensity and field of the poverty alleviation this time is unprecedented. The CPPCC hopes Evergrande to create a model for poverty alleviation in Dafang county of Bijie and set a good example of targeted poverty alleviation to the country. "On behalf of the CPPCC, I propose three hopes and demands: first, the CPPCC, Evergrande Group and Guizhou local government shall form the resultant force for poverty alleviation; second, Dafang County shall insist on the combination of external aid and its own motivation and give full play to the subjective initiative of local government; third, explore new methods and ways of targeted poverty alleviation in practice to combine the poverty alleviation and the new rural and town construction." Xiang Zongxi said.

Chairman Hui said at the seminar that the first batch of new rural construction will start on March 1 of next year. We have the confidence, determination and ability to quickly help Dafang County out of poverty and let the local people have a better life at an early date.
